Register a Publication


 

Search


Search title

To search for single title keywords, choose "Single search term" from the drop down menu. Enter only one keyword for every search box.

To search for a phrase, choose "Multiple-word phrase" from the drop down list. The search terms, including articles, have to be entered in the exact order that they appear in the bibliographic data.

Always enter umlauts as ä, ö, ü and ß, because the search engine will not be able to find substitute letter combinations.


Search author

Enter just one person per box.

For personal names, enter surname first.

For example: Berntsen
 Hoffmann-Schulze, Lisa
 D'Hondt, Victor


You may also truncate surnames.

For example: Berntsen  retrieves Berntsen, Nicole
 Berg  retrieves Berger, Holger or Bergmann, Peter


You can enter the authors' first initials (without period).

For example: Berger, H


Searching for author's first names will not result in hits.

For example: Nicole will not retrieve Berntsen, Nicole
 Norihiro  will not retrieve Nishimoto, Norihiro

Use wildcard _(underscore) within a term if unsure of spelling.

For example: Ma_er  retrieves Maier, Mayer etc.

Use List authors to browse an alphabetical list of all authors of the University of Mainz. Click on the author's name to display his or her publications.

Please note that at present the "or-search" does not work in combination with the search for an author.


Search department or faculty

Use the names from the Department or Faculty lists to conduct a more accurate search. (incorrect names will result in less accurate hits).


Wildcards and truncation

You may truncate search terms to retrieve more hits.

For example: system  retrieves System, Systeme, systems, systematische etc.


Use wildcard _(underscore) within a term if unsure of spelling.

For example: Ma_er  retrieves Maier, Mayer etc.
 M_yer  retrieves Mayer, Meyer etc.


 

Register a Publication


Document type

Click on the drop down menu and choose the corresponding document type for your publication. Click on "Next" to continue to the registration form.

Any publication that is not a book, book contribution, journal, journal article, special issue or series must be specified as "other". If possible, select a specification from the drop down menu "Specify document type". For example: research report, software, etc.


Specify document type

Select an entry from the drop down menu "Specify document type" to specify the document type of your publication. For example: research report, software, etc.


Language

Select the language of your publication from the drop down menu. If the language of your publication is not listed in the drop down menu or your publication is multi-lingual, select "other" from the drop down menu. Use the box "Your message" to indicate the publication's language or languages.


Open Access

In case your publication fulfills the conditions of Open Access select "yes".
That is the case if...

  • ...the publication is available free of charge via internet.

It does not fulfill the conditions of Open Access if...

  • ...the publication is not online.
  • ...you have to pay in order to access the publication, e.g. subscription fees.
  • ...you have to register in order to access the publication.

In case it is unclear whether your publication fulfills the conditions of Open Access please select "Open Access: unknown". In this case we will check whether the publication fulfills the conditions of Open Access.


Author

When entering author's names, type the last name (or family name) first, followed by the first name (or personal name). Staff members of Mainz University have to write out their full first name.

For example: Schmitt, Lisa
 Müller-Schulze, Karl Harald
 Neuberg, Florian von
 Hofmann, Greta M.

Persons who are not staff members of Mainz University may enter their first initials.

For example: Peters, T.
 Hoffman-Smith, M. W.

Use "?" for special characters that you cannot enter with your keyboard. Before being entered into the bibliography, all "?" in your entry will be replaced with the corresponding characters when processed by the librarians.


Staff member in year of publication

Check "Staff member in year of publication" if the author was a staff member of the University of Mainz in the year of publication.


Institution

Click on the drop down menu to display a list of all internal and external institutions of the University of Mainz. Select the corresponding institution of your publication.


Publication title

Enter the complete title of your publication. If your publication is a book contribution or a journal article, only type in the title of the contribution or article and then indicate its source in the box "Title (source)".

If your publication is a book contribution published in a multivolume work, also indicate the title of the volume.

For example: Franz Xaver : Briefe und Dokumente ; 1535-1552
 Enhanced sensitivity to CD95-Induced apoptosis in ob/ob mice
 Bd. 4 Renaissance

Multivolume title

If your publication is a volume of a multivolume work, indicate the title of the multivolume work. Use the box "Publication title" to indicate the volume's title. For example: Bd. 4 Renaissance.

Title (source)

Indicate the title of the book or journal where your publication appeared.

For example: Modern Language Quarterly
 Mit allen Sinnen : Gefühl und Empfindung im Kino ; für Thomas Koebner zum 65. Geburtstag


Editor (source)

Indicate the editor of the book where your publication appeared.

When entering editor's names, type the last name (or family name) first, followed by the first name (or personal name).

For example: Schmitt, Lisa
 Müller-Schulze, Karl
 Neuberg, Florian von

Edition (publication)

Indicate the edition of your publication.

For example: 2nd ed.
 4th ed., revised and enlarged


Edition (source)

Indicate the edition of the book where your publication appeared.

For example: 2nd ed.
 4th ed., revised and enlarged


Volume (source)

Indicate the volume of the journal where your publication appeared.

For example: 23

Issue (source)

Indicate the issue of the journal where your publication appeared.

For example: 11


Place of publication

Indicate the place where your publication was published.

For example: New York


Publisher

Indicate the publisher that published your work.

For example: Pergamon-Elsevier
 Wiss. Buchges.


Year of publication

Indicate the year when your work was published (yyyy). Please note that you cannot enter a year that lies in the future. Publications that have yet to be released will be fully unlocked only after publication.

For example: 2006


Series title - indicate numbering if necessary

If your publication appeared as part of a series, please indicate the title of the series and, if necessary, the numbering.

For example: Studien zum deutschen und europäischen Medienrecht ; 45

Number of pages

Indicate the total number of pages of your publication. Ignore pages with Roman numerals.

For example: 289


First page

Indicate the first page of your journal article, book contribution, etc.

For example: 537


Alternative numbering

Indicate an article number if your publication does not have a conventional page numbering.

For example: L078005


Last page

Indicate the last page of your journal article, book contribution, etc.

For example: 548


ISBN / ISSN

Type ISBN (International Standard Book Number) or ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) with hyphens. Do not use spaces after the hyphens. Multiple ISBN or ISSN can be listed using a semicolon.

DOI / URN

Please indicate if your publication possesses a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) or URN (Uniform Resource Name).

DDC subject area

Please assign the corresponding Dewey Decimal Classification number to your publication.

For example: If your publication covers a topic from the subject area chemistry, select "540 Chemistry".


DFG subject area

Please assign the corresponding DFG subject area number to your publication.

For example: If your publication covers a topic from the subject area microbiology, select "204 Microbiology, Virology and Immunobiology".


Abstract

The abstract of your publication may not exceed 5000 characters and can be inserted from another document using with copy and paste.

Please note that copying from a different document may result in misplaced line breaks or missing spaces. Since your abstract will not be revised by the librarians, make sure to check your text for structural consistency.
