1. Work through Checklist
Go through the checklist "Dissertation Checklist", "Habilitation Treatise Checklist" or "Master´s Thesis Checklist" and make the appropriate changes to your document. In doing so you can ensure that there will be no problems concerning any formal criteria demanded by the University Library.
2. Apply for Access Code
For security reasons you will need to provide explicit identification in order to register your document online. You can order the access code by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Provide Number of Printed Copies According to Specifications (Dissertations and habilitations in Medicine only)
It will be necessary to hand in additional printed copies iof your dissertation thesis or habilitation treatise thesis for the University Library if your are graduating in Medicine. Please consult your department´s dissertation regulations (Promotionsordnung) for details. The Den´s office will be able to inform you about how many additional printed copies you need to hand in for your department.
4. Prepare Abstracts for the Registration Form
The registration form contains fields for abstracts in German and English.
Please select the information for these fields carefully - the University Library will not edit these fields.
You start the registration process by clicking on "Next" in either the field "Publish Dissertation", "Publish habilitation treatise" or "Publish Master´s Thesis" on the homepage.
Afterwards you will be asked to enter your access code.
6. Fill in Your Registration Form
Enter the bibliographical data of your document and the abstract you have prepared into the form.
To complete this step, click on the "Continue"-button.
7. Double-check Your Registration Form
After you have posted the registration form, you can double-check the data you have entered in the first step. In case of faulty entries you can click in the "Revise"-button to return to the online-registration form; here, you can correct faulty entries. Once all entries are correct you click on "Save and Upload File" to complete this step.
8. Confirm License Agreement
Confirm the License Agreement by clicking on the "Agreed"-button. After the upload you will receive an e-mail containing the full text of the License Agreement which you need to print out. Check the License Agreement here.
In case additional authors contributed to the publication you need each person´s written consent.
9. Upload and Save
- either upload a single PDF-file,
- or upload a single PDF-file together with a ZIP-file.
In case your publication contains additional elements (e.g. video sequences, audio documents etc.) you have to upload them as well. Please create an additional zip-file that contains the PDF-document as well as all additional files.
The file shouldn´t exceed 150 MB. If you want to upload larger files, please contact us via e-mail: email@example.com.
10. Print License Agreement and Hand It In at University Library
Please hand in a signed copy of the License Agreement at the University Library´s Dissertation Office. This License Agreement arranges the legal aspects of authorship, copyrights and exploitation rights in the context of archiving your document.
In case your document is a dissertationthesis or habilitaion treatise, please also hand the specified number of printed copies at the University Library´s Dissertation Office.
If your document is a Master’s thesis, please hand your supervisors recommendation.
